Character Name: YOI
Gender: Female
Classification: Unaligned
Faceclaim: Yoi, comissioned drawings/self drawings
Current Occupation: Born a nameless girl, Yoi grew up in a hostile environment that begged her to learn to survive. Though, this environment was not prevalent to her until she was in her teens. Prior to that, Yoi was treated more kindly by the man who owned her. Once she was pushed into the business, Yoi was subjected to much harsher treatment.
Despite this, she managed to slowly learn to read and write through people that found it cute of her to ask silly questions, such as how to write one letter of the alphabet or how to speak it. She became hyper aware of which people to ask and which would react badly if she questioned them, thus developing her skill of observance.
Yoi gave herself the nickname 'yoi', having not been named at birth, which translates to 'good.' She enjoys the strange nickname, because if she is told she is a good girl, then it means others are pleased with her and she would not have to worry about mistreatment.
One day, a white book marked 'Death Note' fell in front of her. Yoi took it, and was terrified when a death god appeared before her. She was told writing a name in the notebook would kill someone. Yoi came as close as trading half her lifespan for the death god eyes, but she did not write a name in the book. Instead, she hid it away.
Yoi was liberated from the life when she made a daring escape at 19, only to find herself in a police station when asking for help. From there, it was unsure of what would happen to Yoi. She had no concept of how to live in the world, and was essentially lost. By then, her shinigami was gone. Dead.
When discovered she had the book, Yoi was detained. The next thing she knew, someone brought a laptop in and a distorted voice began to speak to her, question her. Yoi swore she never used the book, and never planned to. She was willing to let someone else hold onto it. After some more questions (and confirmation she knew how to cook sweet things), Yoi was invited to work with the distorted voice as a housemaid. With nowhere else to go, the young girl accepted. Thus ending her where she is now. It was shortly after her arrival did criminal organizations seize power around the globe.
The Death Note remains locked up in the place she now works in. Safe, and nowhere near where anyone could get their hands on it and use it.
Personality: Overall, Yoi is a sweet and forgiving girl. But she is also hyper nervous and tense. She is also extremely submissive and afraid. It is not difficult to startle her and put her on edge. She tends to act very unsure of herself, which can lead to easy manipulation on her part.
Despite her flaws, Yoi is clever in her own way. She is observant to the people and things around her, and has developed her intuition to a point where she can sense when an environment is not good for her. Yoi's personality can be unpredictable, though she's always shown a definite need to not hurt anyone. She likes to be helpful.
Skill 1: Observant - while she is not on the level of deduction master, Yoi is observant in her own way.
She has learned from her past to assess situations and gauge the emotions behind it. This has helped her avoid trouble many times, as Yoi avoids intense situations like a plague.
This has helped her in being able to read both people and situations, which may help her learn something new. This skill was necessary for survival with her past history.
Skill 2: Escapist - Escapists have a certain feel for knowing exactly when and how to escape any given situation if at all possible. Slippery characters, catching one is no small feat.
Those with this skill receive a -25 value modifier to every Escape v Apprehension action category roll sum in actions that they do not initiate.
Yoi learned the art of hiding and escaping as a necessity for survival due to her past history.
Skill 3: Healing - Yoi never had anyone to stitch her back together once she was torn apart, or to mend her broken bones. These were things she had to learn on her own, and she did.
While Yoi probably is unable to perform major surgeries, she is capable of things a common person would not be. She knows how to stop heavy blood flow, how to set and mend bones, stitching, and other mild healing services.
